In 1920, Hugh Huffaker, the first school commissioner for Chattanooga started Interstate Life Insurance Company
His son, Hugh after graduating from the US Naval Academy returned to Chattanooga and joined a small insurance agency downtown.
In 1954 and 1959, his sons, Hugh Jr. and Bob joined his agency, Ferger Brothers and Huffaker.
Their sons Hugh III and Rob Jr. joined the agency now Huffaker and Associates, Inc. in the 1980’s
In the early 2000’s after Hugh Jr. and Bob had retired the agency was sold to BB&T, a bank in North Carolina.
Bobby III after graduating in Risk Management and Insurance from Ole Miss asked his Grandfather, Bob to join him in starting a new agency on the original ideals of their fathers.
In August, 2010, Huffaker Insurance was started to serve the people of the Tri State and provide them with local service.
October, 2010, They merged with the large established locally owned RSS Agency to become a complete provider of insurance Products.
